Vocal performance opportunities are provided in all Junior and Senior Secondary Classroom Music and Music Extension courses at Coolum State High School. We also have a fantastic co-curricular vocal program comprising of the Coolum Voices (vocal ensemble) and offer small group vocal lessons.

Students from years 7 – 12 have the opportunity to participate in the Coolum Voices. Any student who has shown at least one year commitment the Coolum Voices can then audition for a place in vocal lessons.

Coolum Voices

Coolum Voices are educated in the fundamentals of good vocal health and technique and are exposed to contemporary, traditional and gospel repertoire. Coolum Voices are renowned for being an enthusiastic, vibrant group that all come together to share their love of singing.

The Coolum Voices rehearse on Tuesday mornings at 7:30am in PA6

Vocal Program

The Coolum State High School Vocal Program invites students to participate in small group lessons throughout the week in regularly timetabled classes, aimed at developing vocal technique, part-singing and solo repertoire. This is an auditioned component of our program with limited vacancies. Students are encouraged at the beginning of each year to audition for entry and are placed on a waiting list if no vacancies are available.

Production and Musicials

Students enrolled into the Vocal Program will also participate in our school production events as soloists or members of the chours. This participation forms one performance phase of the Vocal Program for each year. Students will recieve vocal coaching and mentoring of performance stagecraft as part of their involvement in school productions.
