There are a number of sporting clubs and activities which are available in and around the Coolum Beach area. These include:

As per EQI study program guidelines, international students are requested to:
- Participate in Water Skills and Beach Safety Sessions (usually held during their School Orientation Program)
- Complete a Travel Form and submit the school for approval
- Not engage in any sport and recreation that is considered 'high risk'.

Surfing
The Surfing Program for International Students includes three complimentary 'Learn to Surf' lessons and are held on the weekends. Each lesson is two hours long and are held at Coolum Beach by accredited surfing instructors.
Surfboards, wetsuits and sunsmart/safe t-shirts are provided for the lessons.
International students are required to pass the Water Skills Assessment before engaging in surfing, swimming and water activities. It is also recommended the the international students wear 50+ sunscreen cream for the lessons and outside activities.
