In
line with our shared vision and values at Coolum State High School, we are
committed to delivering quality and excellence in teaching and learning for a
21st century future. Curriculum at Coolum State High School is delivered by
expert teachers to provide students with a challenging, rich and diverse range
of learning experiences. The curriculum at all year levels of study, aims to
engage students actively in the pursuit of academic, vocational, cultural and
sporting success.
Marzano’s
Art and Science of Teaching, combined with Reading to Learn and
Essential Skills for Classroom Management, provide a framework for our teaching practice and professional development. This ensures a contemporary
research based approach is informing the choices Heads of Department and
teachers make when structuring unit plans, resources and lessons, in order to maximise
individual development, improvement and success for all the students in our
school.
The
guarantee and viable curriculum is designed in response to QueenslandCurriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) Syllabuses, the Australian
Curriculum ACARA documents and Vocational Educational and Training modules.
Assessment is aligned to the teaching and learning processes against explicit
criteria and standards documented in ACARA documents, QCAA syllabuses and VET
competencies.
Coolum
State High School whole school curriculum priorities are literacy and numeracy
and the embedding of digital technologies through all curriculum areas to
ensure all our students at Coolum State High School graduate with
qualifications and skills necessary to be successful in a global community.
