International students are provided with local host families that are located in close proximity to school and public transport.

Regular security checks and visits are conducted by the Homestay Coordinator, to ensure that the homestay experience is of a high standard and remains safe and enjoyable. Each student is provided with their own bedroom, study facilities and meals. Host families often include international students in social outings and family gatherings, and form life-long friendships.

All homestay parents and residents in the home who are 18 years and over, are required to obtain a Working with Children Blue Card. For more information visit http://www.bluecard.qld.gov.au/

We welcome new host families into the Homestay Program on a regular basis. There are opportunities for short term stays (eg. 10 day study tour students) and also for long stay (3-12months or longer).

The guidelines for Host Families are outlined on https://eqi.com.au/agents-partners/homestay-providers

To become a Host family, a Homestay Application Form is required to be completed and submitted to the School's Homestay Coordinator.  The Homestay Information Sheet provides an overview for the international students.

For more information about becoming a Homestay Provider/Family, please contact our Homestay Coordinator on +61 5471 5303 or +61 418 185 809, or by emailing rwals109@eq.edu.au.
