Overview
Coolum State High School's jazz band is an exciting performance ensemble for passionate and dedicated young musicians who are ready to take their skills to the next level. Open to students with experience on brass, woodwind, rhythm section and selected percussion instruments. The ensemble performs a range of jazz repertoire.
Entry is by audition. This helps place students in an ensemble that matches their skill level and supports their musical development. Members build improvisation, ensemble playing and performance skills while working alongside other talented musicians under the guidance of our experienced music staff.
Rehearsals
The jazz band rehearses every Wednesday morning before school in K20. The ensemble also performs regularly at school events. Auditioning for the Jazz Band is an excellent opportunity for students to extend their musicianship and be part of one of our school's premier performing ensembles.
Levies and uniforms
There is no fee to join the group, but students are required to provide their own instrument.
