At Coolum State High School, we are strongly committed to providing extensive educational opportunities to ensure that all students will achieve success in a supportive environment of unconditional care, respect and excellence. Our programs are designed to develop, not only a love of learning amongst our students, but to prepare them as valuable community members and constructive global citizens.
Our Junior Secondary Team is focused on ensuring that all of our future students and families are ready for the next step in the learning phase. As a result, we are working very closely with our local primary school leaders and staff to ensure that high school readiness is a process that starts at the commencement of Year 6, and will evolve in line with the needs of our students throughout the year. We are working with diligence to develop a vast range of opportunities to further strengthen the ties between the primary school and high school environment. This is to ensure that students feel confident, capable and ready to take the leap into the next phase of their learning.
This High School Readiness Program includes:
- Parent Information Session – Term 1
- ALPHA Information Session –Term 1
- High School Showcase – Term 2
- Visits to local primary feeder schools – Terms 2, 3 & 4
- High School Readiness Program days – Term 3
- Orientation day – Term 4
