All parents of Year 7 students are invited to attend a very special presentation on the critical topic of the dangers of Social Media and its impact on the teenage mind and general wellbeing. This presentation has been specifically targeted for Year 7 parents, and it is strongly recommended for all parents to attend to enhance your knowledge of the challenging area of technology, social media, gaming, relationships, and risk-taking at this critical age.
This workshop will allow parents to safeguard your child in today's digital age, where social media plays a significant role in the lives of our teenagers. It is essential for parents to be informed about the potential challenges and dangers your children may face online. In Australia, the impact of social media on teens has become a growing concern, with alarming statistics revealing the true extent of its influence. According to the eSafety Commissioner, 50% of teens had a negative online experience in the last six months. The top three reasons were being contacted by a stranger (30%), receiving inappropriate or unwanted content (20%), and being deliberately excluded from events/social groups (16%). Cyberbullying has also emerged as a prevalent issue, affecting a substantial number of teenagers. Recent studies indicate that a significant percentage of adolescents experience heightened stress, anxiety, and sleep disturbances due to excessive social media use. Be informed as a parent and protect your child. This is crucial information every parent must hear, delivered by an expert.
