​​​​​​​​​​​​Our school's sporting facilities include a Multipurpose Centre/Hall, four outdoor tennis/netball/basketball courts, full-sized AFL and Rugby League fields, two Soccer fields and an Athletics field.

Sch​ool Spo​​​​​rt Carnivals

All students are allocated to a sporting house and can compete at school carnivals for:

  • Swimming
  • Cross country
  • Athletics (track and field events)

Information on the dates and venues are included in the school calendar, newsletter and emailed to parents/carers and students. For events held at external venues, parents are required to provide consent for their child to attend and participate. There are no additional fees for events held at external venues.

Students competing in these carnivals may progress to represent Coolum State High School at the district level, regional competitions or nationals. Students who qualify will be contacted directly by the Sports Co-ordinator.

District and Regional Sport
Coolum State High School is part of the Sunshine Coast School Sport Region.
Noosa District Logo.pngAt a district level, Coolum SHS falls under the Noosa District School Sport for 12-year-old students, and North District School Sport for 13 to 19-year-old students. Students have the opportunity to trial for district and regional teams in their chosen sport. 

Trial calendars can be accessed In the links above. Please note trial dates are subject to change and nominated students will be notified if this occurs.

For the major three carnivals – Swimming, Cross Country or Athletics – students will be nominated via the Sports Co-ordinator.

District and Regional – Nomination process for sports other than Swimming, Cross Country or Athletics:

Students can collect trial information and consent f​orms during break times from the Sports Coordinator in the Performing Arts Building foyer. Students are to take paperwork home and use the QR Code to nominate:

  • 12-year-old District participants will have an online medical and consent form
  • 13 to 19-year-old Regional participants will receive a hard copy medical and consent form for parents/guardians to complete and sign, before school approval
  • 13 to 19-year-old students must take the documentation with them to the trial, or they will not be allowed to participate.
With the exception of District Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics carnivals, students are required to make their own way to their chosen District or Regional trial.​

Interschool Sport

As part of the North District School Sport Association, students in Years 7 to 10 have the opportunity to compete against other schools in the North District Interschool Sport Competition. The competition consists of 2 'gala days'. Students can nominate for selection in their preferred interschool sport team in Term 1 for Years 9 and 10, and in Term 2 for students in Years 7 and 8.

Students will need to nominate to be considered for a team. In the event that participation numbers are too high, school trials will be run to select the team.

Term 2 – Years 9 and 10

  • Thursday Week 4 (May 9)
  • Tuesday Week 6 (May 21)

Term 3 – Years 7 and 8

  • Thursday Week 4 (August 1)
  • Tuesday Week 6 (August 13)

​Students will be transported by bus to external venues. Selected students are required to return a Consent Form and payment (approximately $20 – to be confirmed) to participate in this program.​
