RockBand Program
Coolum State High School currently has the opportunity for a contemporary music program. Students are required to complete an audition which will assess skills and determine eligibility.
Eligable students have the opportunity to perform at least 10 times per year at parades, lunchtimes, external events and the a Battle of the Bands. RockBand students also have the opportunity to perform to the wider community and the program provides a positive, educational and enriching experience for the students.
The RockBand program will see students grouped together with other students of a similar skill level in a contemporary band setting. A wide range of repertoire is available and students are encouraged to bring in their own material, both covers and originals. The students develop a 3 song mini set in Term 1 and are provided showcase opportunities in Week 9 and Week 10 of each term on Parade and at lunchtime concerts which are organised by the program facilitators. In the RockBand program students will be coached in performance, technique, stagecraft, rudimentary engineering and some recording techniques.
RockBand has a particular focus on live performance and encourages students to take part in many performance opportunities both inside and outside of the school context.
