Wind Symphony Academy

18/09/2018

Our Wind Symphony Academy is branching out discovering new styles of music in the form of our first school Jazz Band. Ten of our Brass, Saxophone and Rhythm section students have been rehearsing during Thursday lunch times and enjoying playing Jazz, Swing, Rock, Funk and Blues.

Recently, we hosted a visit from the Macgregor State School Stage Band. The students worked in sections during the morning and then came together for a quick rehearsal before performing ‘Lil' Brown Jug’ and ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ for the Year 7 parade in the afternoon.

The Jazz band will have some expert tuition from Dan Quigley, Head of the Jazz Music Institute in Brisbane this week. They will perform on parade in Week 1 and will open the ‘Coolum Hearts’ fundraiser concert held at Coolum State School on Sunday November 4 starting at 1:00pm.
