On the Board

Year 12 student Mitchell Burton was last week appointed as a Junior Observer for 2015 on a board that manages one of the only publically listed companies on the Sunshine Coast.  Sunshine Coast Community Financial Services Limited (SCCFSL) manages the Community Bank branches of Bendigo Bank in Marcoola, Cooroy and Tewantin.

Through Bendigo Bank’s sponsorship of a number of community organisations and events on the North Shore, Mitchell was made aware of a program where he could attend each SCCFSL board meeting and learn more about how community banking works on a boardroom level. It’s a big step in the right direction in the development of any career and Mitchell has now seen firsthand how it can lead to a great job close to home.

“I’m just so happy to have been given this opportunity”, Mitchell said.

“The SCCFSL board is packed with years of experience and they’re really lovely people who are keen to pass on their knowledge. It’s a great head start to learn how a board works and also to learn more about the important part the Community Bank branches plays in our region’s future. It’s just amazing how much time and money the branches have invested in our community already for all our benefit,” Mitchell said.
