Dancing to Success

Two Coolum High students have been chosen in a 500 strong ensemble cast for the musical Hairspray production at the Brisbane Convention Centre in April next year, alongside a cast of 30 professional performers including Simon Burke, Christine Anu, Rob Mills and Wayne Scott Kermond.

Year 10 student Samantha Harding and Year 8 student Gabrielle Wagner have been chosen from more than 1600 young hopefuls to perform in the major arena production.

Samantha is becoming an old hand at the theatre game...she was chosen in 2014 for the production of Cats while this is the first time Gabby has been involved in such a huge production.

According to producers Harvest Rain, the show is a way of showcasing the best up and coming musical theatre talent that Queensland has to offer, providing the young performers a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience a large scale professional production alongside some of the biggest names in the country.

Samantha has been dancing for 8 years with the Rory Williamson School of Dance while Gabrielle has studied ballet, jazz and contemporary dance for ten years.  Both students will continue to work hard in the lead up to the curtains opening in April.  Congratulations girls!!
