Coolum Laneways to Come Alive

Laneways 2015 kicks off this coming Saturday, 19 September, for another year of outdoor art and sculpture exhibitions generated by young artists utilising Coolum Beach’s public outdoor spaces and laneways.

Coolum State High School students from Years 9, 10 and 11 have spent months creating dozens of artworks and sculptures that will bring Coolum’s laneways to life over the coming weeks.

Year 11 students focused their ideas on ‘the figure’; Year 10 students have created large scale insects to fit to the theme ‘macro-micro insects’; and the Year 9 students have made large scale food items from papier-mache for their ‘Pop Art Sculpture’ theme.

The side of the Cool-Art building will be transformed into an outdoor laneway gallery, including street art, insects created by recycled materials and papier-mache pop art sculptures.

The exhibition will delight people of all ages with a variety of different 2D and 3D artworks created by some very talented young artists.
